take cold showers in the morning
[[distillation-data]]
There is probably science to back this up, but I don't have sources right now.
I have added a short cold shower to my morning routine. After I get out of bed, this is the first thing I do. I don't usually take a full shower, more a rinse, and I don't usually get my hair fully wet since it takes a while for it to dry. I added this on a whim, but I am surprised by the results. I'm working up to 2 minutes and that's probably where I'll max out for now.
I know it sounds awful. But after about a week, the cold was no longer as shocking and it was much easier to relax into the shower. The best way I have come up with to describe it is "rebooting" in the morning - but it takes a week to install everything first.
Benefits I have noticed with the cold shower
- I feel much more awake after getting out
- My body feels crazy in a good way for a while
- It is much less enticing to get back into bed
- It is easier to move to the next step of my routine
- I feel a little hardcore
- It feels less cold when I walk outside in the winter
Try it out for two weeks. If you don't like it after two weeks, stop.
- Turn the cold water on, take a deep breath, and exhale as you step in.
- Start with 15-20 seconds the first day
- Increase by 5-10 seconds every 1-2 days. 5 seconds is nothing.
- Profit.
