[[concept]]
Info
Time: 30 mins
Servings: 8-10
Pros: Extremely easy
Cons: Very basic
Ingredients and Materials
- 32oz/2 large jars red pasta sauce (you can also make your own tomato sauce instead)
- 1 large tub cottage cheese
- a lot of garlic (5+ cloves)
- 2 onions
- 3-5 bell peppers
- fresh basil
- 3-4 tomatoes on the vine
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- spices
- 2lbs (2 boxes) pasta
- 2ish lbs ground meat
materials
- blender
- large pot (for pasta)
- large pot (for sauce)
Instructions
- peel and crush the garlic. Mince the onions and peppers and tomatoes
- Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Fill the other large pot with enough water for the pasta. Add salt as desired and place over high heat.
- Add the garlic to the sauce pot and cook until toasty.
- Add the spices, onion, and pepper to the sauce pot and sautee until the onions are translucent
- Add the tomatoes to the sauce pot and cook until desired tenderness
- Add the ground meat to the sauce pot and cook until well done, breaking up chunks
- Add the tomato sauce and stir over the heat until steaming
- while the sauce is heating, blend the cottage cheese until smooth. Once the sauce is warm, slowly add the blended cottage cheese, gently stirring to combine
- Once the water is boiling for the pasta, add and cook according to the box instructions
Notes
Variations
- I have also had success with (PLAIN) greek yogurt, mozzarella, ricotta, and grated parmesan instead of cottage cheese. You can also do a mixture, depending on how fancy/fast/cheap you want to make this
- you can omit the peppers if you want a more tomatoey flavor. They are included because adding them to recipes is one of my preferred methods to get me to eat more vegetables
